We would like our students to become successful, lifelong learners, as well as responsible, ethical and respectful citizens, reflecting the needs of our changing and challenging world.
Ostrčilova International School is part of a Czech state school - Základní škola a mateřská škola Ostrava - which is a non-profit organisation founded in 1960. Since 2005 the school has had authorization from the Czech Ministry of Education to provide a bilingual education for children aged 3 to 15 years. At the present time the school offers a high standard of education to children of all nationalities ages 3 to 11. Ostrčilova International School follows the Czech National Curriculum, taught through the medium of English, using British and American books and materials.
Objectives:
· To create a challenging, rewarding and stimulating environment in which our students can learn effectively
and fully realize their potential in order to achieve academic excellence and pursue learning as a lifelong
endeavour
· To offer students a wide range of stimulation through an exceptional curriculum, which is continuously
tailored and developed to reflect the needs of a changing world
· To teach how to receive, process and evaluate the overwhelming amount of information from the modern
world and to foster the ability of students to create their own opinions according to the ethical codes of the
global community
· To provide students with opportunities to learn how to practically apply new knowledge and skills in
everyday life
· To promote a high level of competence in English, Czech and other optional language, allowing our
students to fully and easily adapt in any new environment and producing greater potential for study abroad
· To create opportunities for students to value the contributions of others, maintaining the international spirit
of the school and harnessing the power of working together
· To promote an understanding and appreciation of Czech and other cultures
· To nurture the individual’s intellectual, social and physical growth while identifying and meeting each
student’s developmental needs
· To convey the importance of physical and mental balance as a means towards achieving personal
well-being
· To foster a close relationship between parents and the school, the keystone for a child’s future; serving to
